We stand in solidarity with those affected by the war in Ukraine. Since the start of the war, we have been working to send emergency aid and support those who escape the violence.

The team of the grassroots project Nadiya joined Europe Cares in August 2022. Together, we created a supply line for humanitarian aid via a hub directly on the border to Ukraine in Slovakia, from where we transfered relief shipments into the country. We worked closely with the Netzwerk Ziviler Krisenstab to ensure regular shipments and are in frequent exchange with various partners in Ukraine.

It has been over a year since fire destroyed Moria Camp. Since then, the attention has shifted away from Lesvos - but over thousands of people are still trapped on the island. Together with Leave Noone Behind, STELP and other partners, we created a basic needs center next to the the camp on Lesvos. Here, people on-the-move have access to non-food items, clean showers and a laundry service.

Around 1,500 displaced people are sleeping rough in horrific living conditions that are only made worse by daily police evictions. We support our partner Collective Aid and other grassroots organisations currently on the ground in their effort to distribute life-saving aid across sites in Calais & Dunkirk.

A fire destroyed Moria Camp and put 20.000 people on-the-move on the street over night. We set out to supply our partners on Lesvos with humanitarian aid, such as food, hygiene clothing, clothing and outdoor equipment. Our team organized a tour through Germany: Stuttgart, Munich, Dresden, Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne and Frankfurt am Main. In total, we collected over 750 pallets of relief goods.

With our first project, we wanted to send a message of solidarity to people on-the-move in Moria Camp on Lesvos during the first wave of COVID-19. We started the initiative #EuropeCares to show that people all across the continent had not forgotten those trapped in horrendous conditions in the camps on the European borders.
